Buy-In Events

Our parent-run Board raises money each year to support our operating budget. We supplement our tuition income with not only holding big fundraisers but also by hosting amazing subscription parties, thrown by current and alumni families.

WHAT IS A WINDMILL BUY-IN PARTY?

For those not familiar with Windmill “Buy-In” parties—they are a key factor of success for our annual fundraiser (for example, one year was Windmill Casino Royale: A 9-0-0 Affair, and last year it was Old School at the New School.)

These parties are scattered throughout the year, contribute toward Windmill’s annual costs, and provide amazing opportunities for community building/bonding.  THEY ARE SO MUCH FUN!  There are events for kids, events for moms, events for dads, and usually an adults only event. There are traditional favorites and also opportunities for new ideas/themes and a round of hosts to add to the fun each year.  If you have an idea for such a party and would like to spearhead it, please reach out—while the 2020 parties werer put on hold, the future awaits your input!!!

WHAT DOES A HOST/CO-HOST DO?

Hosts/co-hosts secure a date, time, location and cost for attendance.  All hosts/co-hosts share the responsibilities of preparation (example:  food/drink if applicable, decoration, planning, communication with guests) and party costs (to be divided equally, unless someone specifies otherwise).  Hosting costs do come from one’s own pocket (not from the money collected from the event).  FYI, this cost is usually not too high, especially as it is shared between the co-hosts, and you can also write off your expense (formal letter provided for tax purposes).  Extra bonus--hosting with a few others takes the fun/bonding factor to another level—truly awesome working together, with lots of laughs and creativity, shared responsibilities (so the onus isn’t just on one person), all to benefit Windmill School. If interested, please contact Katie Wilson or Rachel Reilly.
